Sexual Illnesses in Women
By Bing Aranzanso
A recent post, Are Your Private Parts Typical?, brought to mind some sexual illnesses that women experience. It is important that women are aware of what these illnesses are and how it could affect them: 1. Lack of Sexual Desire - is also called Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder (HSDD) or Inhibited Sexual Desire (ISD). In simpler terms, this is the lack of libido in women caused by many factors. There are varied reasons why this happens in women and it includes medication effects from contraceptive pills, antidepressants, tranquilizers, etc. This can also be caused by the low level of testosterone in a woman's body. 2. Vaginismus - is the condition of having muscle spasms or the contraction of muscles of the female organ making it impossible for the male organ to enter. Although in instances where the woman is aroused and lubricated, the vaginal opening acts like a closed door. This is a rare condition among women. 3. Female Sexual Arousal Disorder - is a condition where there is lack of lubrication in the genital area of women resulting to inability for a sexual excitement making it impossible to have a penetration. 4. Female Orgasmic Disorder - is the failure to obtain orgasm even with enough stimulation. This is also called anorgasmia. 5.Dyspareunia - is the condition where there is pain in a woman's genitalia every time there is intercourse. These are not the only sexual problems women experience (or suffer from). But they can not become serious problems if the true causes will be discovered. Reasons vary from rape, sexual abuse, trauma, stress, fear, anxiety, relationship issues to lack of self-esteem and confidence. Treatment includes the following: • sexual therapy • confrontation with one's emotional and psychological problems • understanding, support and love

thank you, Larraine. i hope it could be useful to many.
Hmmm. I have never considered a lack of sexual desire as an illness - more of a depressed libido. For many women (and men) sex is not the greatest drive in their lives because they are devoting their attentions to other, more demanding or more interesting spheres. It is also possible that they haven't met anybody that they find arousing enough. Anorgasmia is a very frustrating condition but very few anorgasmics (again, men or women) fail to reach orgasm through masturbation. Sometimes the sexual act can be completed orgasmically using auto-eroticism but each partner must be open and aware enough to allow this without 'blame'.

it's nice learning from you, oldcoot. but maybe the lack of sexual desire became an illness because of its causes. for many women and men in the Philippines, sex is a driving factor. they equate it as reason to be inspired or active in doing something. it's a cultural thing, could it be? auto-eroticism? that is a very new term to me. care to share what it is?
Auto-eroticism is the stage upon which masturbation can be set. Sometimes it could be as simple as a partner behaving in an overtly sexy way or could involve a form of fettishism, stroking a foot or sucking a partners fingers for example. Certainly the local culture can have a lot to do with how sexually aroused or receptive a person could be. It has always puzzled me that there was a generation after the one in which young men became abusive towards girls and treated them like baggage. British youth in some areas is neither attractive nor desirable to my mind but they seem to get it together - even if only for a quick knee trembler in a door-way.

thank you for the reply, mr oldcoot. it is not a cultural thing therefore.
I doubt if a sex drive is cultural. Sex seems to be a pretty popular sport in Canada too! I agree that any of the conditions you mentioned are cause for serious concern and if physical issues are ruled out (including fatigue), they quite likely stem from emotional issues.

i believe they all are caused by emotional issues, june. thank you for sharing your thought. sex drive is not cultural, i believe.
Approximately 245 babies are born on Earth every minute. Apparently, there are a lot of women not having these problems.
CONTRIBUTOR'S REPLY
hmmm... babies could be born even with these illnesses, biblefreeorg. there are men who coerce and women who let men coerce them. there are women, too, that are weak in asserting their rights if they do not want to have sex with such conditions. and there are women, especially in the third world countries, or in uncivilized parts of the world, that are ignorant of their own conditions. thank you for sharing a thought. you had me thinking.
